Week 10: Founders

After 12 months of dreaming, searching, learning, listening and collaborating we have decided to make the leap. With making the call to leave jobs in order to build a Climate Tech business, we have taken our first steps along the well trodden path of entrepreneurship.

Having shared our product process with you all over the last 10 weeks, we thought it was time to introduce ourselves and explain why we are so excited to be making this life long commitment to our climate.

Who are we?

Founder - Rory Oxenham

Having started his career leading Experience Design at a Clean Tech startup looking to reimagine how Australians access residential energy storage, Rory has enjoyed honing his entrepreneurial skillset at BCG Digital Ventures. With a passion for strategic design and ethnographic research, he prides himself in championing the voice of the customer at all times, delivering insights that have led teams to game changing innovation throughout his last 7 ventures across South East Asia and Australia.

Founder - Alex Logan

In his final year of uni Alex got his first taste of start ups in the HelloFresh warehouse building, stamping and packing the first boxes for Sydneysiders. This was followed by learning and crafting his product and tech skills at two local Sydney start ups; Beat the Q & Ordermentum. At BCG Digital Ventures he launched 8 ventures across North Asia, South East Asia, US and Australia in retail, insurance, real estate and construction. Alex is passionate about empowering teams to get products into the hands of customers that deliver utility and delightful experiences.

Genesis Story

No one likes the perfect story. The seamless road to success. The Hollywood 'aha' moment that changes the world as we know it in a flash.

Which is great news - because Cecil's genesis story was much like putting socks on a rooster. Hectic, messy and a whole lot of fun.

12 months ago, after a weekend away with friends and a 6 pack of Stone & Wood beers, a shared curiosity to make a difference was born.

What followed was a failed start up, involvement in countless global climate communities and magic time hours poured into initiatives such as Leaders for Climate Action.

With renewed energy 9 months later, we joined forces again in October up in Byron Bay. An idea quickly ignited one evening during dinner (this time over two 6 packs) and fledglings of an early concept had emerged.

10 weeks and over 100 interviews later - we step bravely into 2021, ready to bring our product Cecil to life.
