Hi everyone,

Our working group has just returned from an inspiring long weekend in a sleepy surf town on the North Coast of New South Wales. Over the course of just 3 days, we ran a number of immersive workshops to define our company's purpose, prioritize a reliable source of removal carbon credits and ideate on potential value propositions.

Week 2 - Starting with our "Why"

Our purpose

We began by defining the most important message that our company can communicate to inspire us and others to action; our "why".

WHY do we exist?

We exist to drive the world towards “Drawdown”— the point when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere start to decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change — as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible.

HOW can we achieve this purpose?

By making it easy for anyone to remove green house gases from the sky

WHAT exactly do we do?

We streamline the process of buying and selling high quality, removal carbon credits

We will take these inputs, along with our team values and culture pillars, to shape our company's mission, vision and brand.

Carbon credits supply framework

Based on our hypothesis that there is an existing shortage of quality, nature based removal carbon credits, the **team used the following frameworks to assess the most suitable source of carbon credit supply moving forward:

Categories of nature based solutions

Nature based solutions account for the majority of carbon credit supply in circulation today (53%) followed by renewables (36%) and others (11%).

Nature based solutions fall under the following categories:

Forestry - Avoided forrest conservation (REDD, REDD+), natural forest management & reforestation & afforestation

Agriculture - Conservation agriculture, other alternative agriculture techniques & improved rice cultivation
