Why do we exist?

Our solution hypothesis

Week 5: Target customer

The working group has been dispersed across NSW this week meeting with farmers, project developers and carbon farming experts. From attending "Young Farmers Connect", a monthly meeting of regenerative farmers based in the Northern Rivers, through to conducting several in depth customer testing interviews, we've continued to drive towards understanding where we might be able to deliver value to project developers. This week's email is all about finding your target customer - who are they, what is the problem they are facing & how big is the opportunity.

Project Developer Interviews

We conducted 7 interviews that included project developers & industry experts from around the globe. As always, a huge thank you to all of those who participated with their time and provided such valuable insights.

Insights

01 Who is our target customer?

As we had mentioned in the previous weekly email, the team has decided to refocus our upcoming efforts on solving problems for project developers instead of landowners. In order to identify our target set of project developers, we analysed the ERF project registry data. That helped us to outline an extensive list of project developers in Australia as a starting point.

02 What problems do they face?

Through extensive qualitative research, we have uncovered a number of different problems that project developers face when looking to bring credits to market. Here are some of the current issues that the team validated in our interviews with developers this week:

Project developers face difficulties managing data across their operations

For project developers managing numerous projects at once, managing and analysing data is an immense challenge. With no bespoke data management solutions available to help developers drive better outcomes for the land owners they serve, many now are looking to develop their own technology to replace their fragmented ecosystem of tools currently used today.
